Why the U.S. Joined WW1

The World War One was by far the most important of them all. It was significant since it was the first war that incorporated almost all countries. The two opposing sides were the Allies which included Great Britain, France, Italy, Russia, and the United States; on the other hand, there was the Central Powers which mainly consisted of Germany, Austria-Hungary, Bulgaria, and the Ottoman Empire.

During this war many interesting events occurred. Such as what is known as the trench warfare; a battle in which two opposing troops would fight each other in a narrow ditch. This specific trench warfare lasted over three years with little to no progress. It was also infested with a plague of huge disease carrying rats, and the soldiers fighting this battle would also run an enormous risk of getting shot and killed. Yet many including myself though or think that this war was caused by the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand it was not, that was just what set it off. It was a series of causes and actions that led to the war. Such as nationalism, imperialism, militarism and alliances. Every country wanted something, Russia wanted access to the Mediterranean Sea, and Germany wanted a rail link to the Ottoman Empire. Also Austria- Hungary took control of Bosnia and accused Serbia of it.

The United stated play a huge role in this war because they invested a lot of money into it and practically help end it. this was started in 1914 and lasted three long, unprogressive years and finally by 1917 the U.S. intervened and the war was over by 1918.

This war is an exquisite example on what history is all about learning form the past to improve your future. We were able to improve from those horrid fighting techniques and innovate into what war is today; more advanced weapons and more successful strategies of war.

Public Education And Inequality

Public schools were made to allow training for better jobs, have grater financial security and social status, assimulate millions of immigrants and to provide a stable and prosperous democratic nation.

Some problems that the first public schools faced was that there was no formal school, many left after just 4 years of attending. Also there was physical violence between a teacher and the students.

Yet public schools didn't seem such a good idea then, their main purpose was to offer help to families. Such as childcare, and education to people's children. Also schools took children out of working in factories with extremely awful conditions.

There was also a huge inequality issue that came with public schools. They offered diffrent opportunities for black and white students. A school was a 62% whites and a 34% blacks attending school.

Other issues that public schools faced were the fact that they wanted to replace ones culture by changing their language.
